Soledad Zarka, Loup Uberto, Maria-Rita Piga with guest Henrique Fernandes

RESIDÊNCIA ARTÍSTICA ARTISTIC RESIDENCY

11.02 - 04.03. 2026

Soledad Zarka, Loup Uberto, and Maria-Rita Piga  are three central members of Canto Nudo, a collective of multifaceted and nomadic artists, whose members are currently settled in Sardinia, Piemonte, Catalonia, Corsica, Croatia, France, Germany, and have in common to share a strong interest into experimental performing arts (improvised music, dance, theater) and in questioning the popular repertoire of oral transmission in the contemporary world..

They will launch a large-scale popular creation laboratory in Alcaçovas exploring the town and meeting its inhabitants.

The trio will create in-situ short dance and sound pieces, intended to be shared in the streets, in cafés, in squares, in community centers, in people's kitchens... sound and choreographic miniatures whose raw material will be imbued with the gestures of working in the fields, the making of chocalhos, and testimonies patiently gathered from the inhabitants. Miniatures in which students from Professor Elsa Neves' dance school, the Grupo Coral dos trabalhadores das Alcaçovas, the Grupo Coral Feminino Cantares de Alcáçovas, the Sociedade União Alcaçovense and its municipal philharmonic, the master craftsman of Chocalhos Francisco Cardoso.

In order to create a large collective piece that will bring together all the groups present, notably supported here by Henrique Fernandes (from Sonoscopia) as a support for Sound design and sound creation, together with a choreographic score inspired by everyday gestures and influenced, for example, by the portraits of women by Alain Cavalier and by the search for a popular avant-garde initiated by Henry Flynt.
